Arsenal have moved quickly to strengthen their defence ahead of the new season, reaching an agreement with Aston Villa for England international Ezri Konsa.

At 28, Konsa is entering what should be the prime years of his career. He is primarily a centre-back but can also operate at right-back, giving Mikel Arteta another option when injuries or tactical changes require adjustments.
That versatility could become particularly valuable because Arsenal have already faced concerns over their defensive depth. With William Saliba dealing with injury issues, questions remained over who would partner Gabriel in the opening stages of the season.
Konsa provides an immediate answer.
